We are taking this fight to the polls. It is an election year: 5 School Board seats and 5 City Council seats are up for grabs. We can overturn this by voting them out and reform education together.

How to speak at a meeting

  1. Call 757-547-1047 before noon on the meeting day. Ask to speak during the Hearing of Citizens and give the subject of your remarks.
  2. Arrive early. The backup option is an in-person request to the Deputy Clerk shortly before the meeting, but arriving early avoids problems.
  3. Prepare for 3 minutes. Keep your remarks short, direct, and focused on Norfolk Highlands Primary, the preschool conversion proposal, rezoning, transportation, safety, class size, and transparency.
  4. Bring a printed copy. If you get nervous or cut short, you can still submit your written comment.

Ask for the alternatives analysis, current and projected class sizes, transportation impact, building-suitability review, fire and evacuation analysis, playground and bathroom retrofit costs, funding details, and the source neighborhoods of the preschool students.
